Lisle is a village located in northern Illinois. It is surrounded by Wheaton, Naperville, Bolingbrook, and Downers Grove. The village is positioned in DuPage County and is the 20th largest community therein. According to the United States Census Bureau, about 23,000 people lived in Lisle in 2016.

Following the end of the Black Hawk War which relocated many Native American Indians west of the Mississippi, European-American settlers quickly moved into the area of modern-day Lisle. The original settlers were Luther Hatch and James C. Hatch. These brothers moved into the area in 1832 and quickly developed farms. Originally, Lisle was known as DuPage, much to the confusion of locals because a township in Will County already bore the name. However, Alonzo B. Chatfield suggested the community be named Lisle in honor of his hometown in New York and subsequently the community was renamed.
